Dato’ Dr Khoo is a cardiologist and physician known for his contribution, selfless dedication and commitment to his professional work. Unlike other professionals in the private sectors, he carries out research activities. His list of publications is outstanding in that field and published in reputed journals internationally. In 2004, he has initiated the cholesterol dialysis programme for the treatment of lipids disorder not responding to maximum blood therapy.

Nerve-Muscle Interactions, Factors Affecting Motoneuron Development, Alveolar Bone Loss Mechanisms in Leprosy, Whole Embryo Culture, Experimentally Induced Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, and Teratology

Professor Dr Subramaniam’s contribution to the teaching and development of Anatomy is recognised both locally and internationally. Apart from teaching, he also actively carries out research activities. His discovery and explanation of how osteocytes transform to osteolytic activity in lepromatous leprosy is considered a seminal piece of work by both clinicians and scientists. He is noted for securing grants from external sources which recognise his talent for research, networking and establishing research links.

Professor Dr Jafri Malin has contributed at the level of applied and clinical neuroscience in Malaysia via numerous publications, chapter in textbooks and books. He has shown proof in USM that he can introduce neurosciences and increase it to the current highly level. From the year 1999, majority of neurosciences papers on neurooncology and new modalities treatment in head injury and intracerebral hemorrhage were published from Malaysia from the neuroscience group that Prof Jafri has helped to coordinate.
