The three-month study was led by Professor Dato\u2019 Ir Dr A. Bakar Jaafar FASc.<\/p>\n<p>For the study, a stakeholder engagement workshop was held on 21 January 2020 to gather valuable feedback on the implication and implementation of the proposed act from government agencies, NGOs, CSOs, industry players and research institutes.<\/p>\n<p>The study concluded with five challenges and 14 recommendations on tackling the transboundary pollution issues through a legislative approach. Based on the findings, a Transboundary Pollution Act needs to be enacted to regulate Malaysian-linked companies that operate abroad. The legislation also needs to be supported by other instruments, such as a third-party commission that can handle disputes pertaining to transboundary pollution at the ASEAN level.<\/p>\n<p>The report was successfully submitted to MESTECC on 14 February 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At a Glance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Task Force Members:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chair<\/strong>: Professor Dato\u2019 Ir Dr A.
