ASM Chapters

The ASM Chapters were set up to provide a platform for the ASM Expert Network to get together and organise programmes in their region. The Chapters bring together ASM Fellows, TRSM recipients, members of YSN-ASM and ASM Associates in the region to carry out activities aligned with the ASM functions. By concentrating their expertise and resources, the Chapters could hold more specific programmes in the region, getting a wider reach among the local scientific community and consequently increasing ASM’s visibility in the region.

The Northern Chapter was the first chapter established (2011), followed by the Southern Chapter in 2016. Three additional Chapters were being set up last year – the East Coast Chapter, the Sabah Chapter and the Sarawak Chapter. In 2021, the main activities held by the Chapters were webinars, conferences, competitions, technical projects and proposals for studies. Some of the activities also involved collaboration with other stakeholders such as UniMas, UTM, USM and UMP.
