The International Research Empowerment Programme (IREP) is a new funding opportunity for Capacity Strengthening programmes. The UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s International Science Partnership Fund (ISPF) supports the grants in strategic partnership with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) as the delivery partner.
Priority Areas
- Promote capacity building and knowledge exchange in interdisciplinary research.
- Create opportunities for researchers and institutions to engage with communities, policymakers and translate research into societal benefits.
Who can apply?
- Collaborations must include one project leader from the UK and one from Malaysia. Both project leaders must hold permanent positions (research, academic, or professional) at eligible institutions and possess the relevant expertise and capacity to lead the project.
- Only one application per project leader is allowed
- The focus is on enhancing international collaboration, engaging communities, and translating research into real-world impact.
