The spirit of innovation was alive and thriving at IPITEx 2025, where 350 talented Malaysian inventors made a remarkable impact. Held in Thailand and hosted by the National Research Agency (NRC) and the Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), this international event gathered the best minds from over 25 countries to showcase groundbreaking inventions and technological advancements.
Among the participants, Malaysia’s delegation stood out with outstanding inventions in various fields, from medicine and green technology to education and robotics. These inventors represented institutions such as Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, INTI International University, and even secondary schools like SM St Michael in Penampang, Sabah. The event saw over 2,000 inventions and over 500 presentations, making it a melting pot of creativity and scientific excellence.
Malaysian Achievements at IPITEx 2025

Malaysian innovators proudly brought home 37 Gold, 26 Silver, and 10 Bronze medals. Beyond these accolades, Malaysia received over 10 Special Awards from countries such as Poland, Britain, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Russia, Korea, and India. Notable recognitions include:
- Philippine Gold Award for Invention (Manila Young Inventors Association, Philippines)
- Great Prize IPITEx 2024 (Association of European Inventors, Poland)
- Young Innovator Award (Citizen Innovation, Singapore)
- Innovation Excellence Special Recognition Award (International British Innovation, Invention, Technology Exhibition, United Kingdom)
- Special Award from World Women Inventors and Entrepreneurs Association
Inspiring Innovations from Malaysia
Among the many creative projects, the largest participation from a single Malaysian school came from SM St Michael, Penampang, Sabah, where 28 students presented inventions such as Hydralert, Binbuster, and HydroHarvester. Their ingenuity left a lasting impression on the judges, showcasing the talent and potential of Malaysia’s young inventors.
Two exceptional Malaysian inventors also won prestigious awards:
- Dr Suliadi Firdaus Sufahani from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) won the IPITEx Big Prize for his research comparing traditional diesel and electric vehicles’ fuel efficiency. His study highlighted electric vehicles’ cost savings and efficiency, encouraging greater adoption in municipal fleets.
- Mr Vijaya from the Education Department of Pasir Gudang received the NRCT Special Prize for his AI-powered student assessment platform, S3PA. This innovative system provides real-time feedback, reduces bias, and enhances education quality while aligning with global standards like PISA.
A Thrilling Experience for Inventors
The competition was not just about winning awards—it was an invaluable learning experience. Participants could engage with international judges, receive constructive feedback, and showcase their work to a global audience. The judging process, which kept inventors on their toes at all times, provided a dynamic and thrilling experience.
Strengthening Global Collaboration

Ms Jayagowri Pindaya, Minister Counselor (Economic Affairs) from the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, Thailand, attended the Exhibition and was impressed with Malaysia’s inventions.
IPITEx 2025 was a platform for knowledge exchange, allowing Malaysian inventors to interact with their international peers, build collaborations, and gain insights into global trends. The event also promoted Malaysia’s inventive potential worldwide, reinforcing the country’s commitment to advancing science, technology, and innovation.
Malaysian inventors are eager to participate in more international exhibitions, including the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx 2026). Events like these play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between Thai and international innovators, ensuring continued progress in invention and research.
MINDS: Leading Malaysia’s Innovation Landscape
The Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS), led by Academician Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Datuk Dr Augustine S. H. Ong FASc, is key in supporting and promoting innovation. As Malaysia’s largest body representing inventors, researchers, and designers, MINDS has been instrumental in running the International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) for over 35 years.
