September 18, 2025The ASM Northern Chapter collaborated with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and SK Bukit Gelugor to organise the STEM Youth Program 2025@School on 27 August 2025. The programme involved more than 300 pupils from the school’s Year 4 to Year 6 classes.
A variety of STEM activities were introduced, including physics workshops, microscale chemistry, computational thinking, periodic table games, marine science exploration, biology activities, and a basic introduction to DNA through hands-on sessions.
ASM expertise was also channelled through the involvement of YSN-ASM members:
Also present was Associate Professor ChM Dr Lee Hooi Ling, an ASM Associate. The programme was officiated by the Chair of ASM Northern Region, who is also USM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr Habibah A Wahab FASc.
Positive feedback from pupils and teachers showed that the programme successfully sparked interest in STEM. The interactive and hands-on activities enriched learning and gave pupils opportunities to explore knowledge in creative and enjoyable ways.
