This was the focus of the 38<sup>th<\/sup> ASM IdeaXchange, aptly titled \u201cIndigenous Cultures, Practices and Views from Borneo towards the Promotion of Planetary Health\u201d. The session was moderated by Madam Margarita Naming, Deputy CEO of Sarawak Biodiversity Centre.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/expert.unimas.my\/profile\/355\">Professor Dr Poline Bala<\/a>, Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borneo.unimas.my\/\">Institute of Borneo Studies<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unimas.my\/\">UNIMAS<\/a>, highlighted how Indigenous Knowledge helps address local challenges. It enhances food production, health, wealth distribution, conflict prevention, and local affairs management.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/expert.unimas.my\/profile\/2343\">Dr Elena Gregoria Chai Chin Fern<\/a>, Principal Assistant Secretary of the <a href=\"https:\/\/mtcp.sarawak.gov.my\/\">Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry &amp; Performing Arts Sarawak<\/a>, shared her ministry\u2019s efforts to preserve indigenous culture, including traditional knowledge such as folklore, dances, and musical instruments. These efforts are crucial for passing down ancestral wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>The 38<sup>th<\/sup> IdeaXchange was part of the ASM Sarawak Chapter Roadshow. The roadshow, in collaboration with UNIMAS, attracted physical and online participants, including university students, academia and personnel from government and agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights are Special Talks by the ASM Sarawak Expert Network. The one-day roadshow also showcased several ASM initiatives and programmes, such as the Malaysia Open Science Platform (<a href=\"https:\/\/mosp.gov.my\/\">MOSP<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/10-10-mystie\/\">10-10 <em>My<\/em>STIE Framework<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/esti.my\/\">e-estidotmy<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ysn-asm.org.my\/\">Young Scientists Network<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/asm-publication\/science-communication\/\">Science Communication<\/a> as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/career\/\">career opportunities<\/a> in ASM.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=&#8221;3&#8243; images=&#8221;5245,5246,5247,5248,5249,5250,5251,5252,5253,5254,5255&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 38th IdeaXchange was part of the ASM Sarawak Chapter Roadshow.
