[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The ASM Membership Division successfully organised the second edition of the 2023 Senior Fellows Meeting on 29 November 2023, conducted in a hybrid format and attended by 16 esteemed Senior Fellows. Academician Professor Emeritus Dato\u2019 V.G. Kumar Das Govinda Panicker FASc<\/a> presided over the meeting as its chair.<\/p>\n

Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc<\/a>, the President of ASM, provided a comprehensive update on the Academy\u2019s activities, underscoring ASM’s role in uniting the future of Malaysian science. He also reported on ASM’s engagements with Research Universities and institutes through outreach programmes and roadshows across the nation, which has broadened the ASM’s perspective on the spectrum of Malaysia\u2019s research and technological advancement, thereby fostering more collaborations.<\/p>\n

The meeting addressed key issues, notably the rising threat of food insecurity<\/a>, with the Senior Fellows presenting concrete recommendations. Other important topics included efforts to establish ASM as Malaysia\u2019s national research coordination centre, engaging a broader community of Fellows in ASM activities, STEM education<\/a> and other crucial matters. Puan Hazami Habib, ASM\u2019s CEO, also introduced the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE<\/a>) and highlighted its implementation plan and upcoming developments.<\/p>\n
