{"id":5848,"date":"2024-05-16T11:44:20","date_gmt":"2024-05-16T03:44:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/asm-focus\/?p=5848"},"modified":"2024-07-16T11:50:08","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T03:50:08","slug":"asm-hosts-workshop-on-future-pandemic-preparedness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/asm-focus\/asm-hosts-workshop-on-future-pandemic-preparedness\/","title":{"rendered":"ASM Hosts Workshop on Future Pandemic Preparedness"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On 5 April 2024, ASM co-hosted the &#8220;Beyond <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/coronavirus#tab=tab_1\">COVID-19<\/a>: Innovating for the Next Pandemic&#8221; workshop in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monash.edu.my\/\">Monash University Malaysia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowell.com\/en\/services\/practices\/c-m-international\">Crowell &amp; Moring International<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop, supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pfizer.com.my\/\">Pfizer (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd<\/a>, brought together health-related experts from ministries, academia, private sectors, and civil society organisations to discuss actionable strategies and key recommendations to strengthen pandemic preparedness and health systems resilience in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>In her opening remarks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/professor-dr-rosnah-binti-mohd-zain-134012a3\/?originalSubdomain=my\">Professor Dr Rosnah Mohd Zain FASc<\/a>, Chairperson of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/position-paper-on-covid-19\/\">ASM COVID-19 Position Paper<\/a>, highlighted the importance of developing actionable strategies through a participatory approach involving all sectors to fortify readiness for future pandemics.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop, coordinated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akademisains.gov.my\/ar22\/wehab-committees\/\">WEHAB++ Health Committee<\/a>, included 11 ASM experts in the Special Interest Group (SIG) on COVID-19 and SIG Zoonosis. The ASM&#8217;s COVID-19 Position Paper 2021 was recognised and cited as a foundational resource for discussions at the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop also engaged inputs from in-depth breakout discussions of actionable strategies and roles by various stakeholders and key enablers within the framework.
