[vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The Women in Science Forum 2024<\/a>, themed ‘Lab to Market’, aims to unite women entrepreneurs, government agencies and stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem to share their best practices from lab to commercialisation. ASM CEO Puan Hazami Habib is invited today to deliver her scene setting titled ‘Bridging Innovation to Commercialisation for Value Creation: Role of Researcher’.<\/p>\n

She emphasised that to ensure Malaysia remains competitive globally, the government continues its efforts to mainstream science, technology and innovation as a driver of economic growth in its transformation plans.<\/p>\n

Notably, 87.5% of the country’s researchers are in Institutions of Higher Learning and Public Research Institutes, while 12.5% are in Business Enterprises. This is a jarring difference between nations such as Singapore and Thailand, where at least 60% of their researchers are in the Business Enterprise.<\/p>\n

Addressing this challenge, the Malaysia Open Science Platform<\/a> (MOSP), administered by ASM, is pivotal in bridging the gap between research, innovation, and commercialisation, enhancing the nation’s overall innovation capabilities.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she elaborated on the strategic utilisation of the Malaysia Science Endowment<\/a> (MSE), which employs a matching fund mechanism to bring together stakeholders from diverse sectors, thereby fostering collaborative, solution-driven research and development (R&D) efforts that align with the nation’s priorities.<\/p>\n

The call to action is clear: researchers need to have a growth mindset that is world-class, outstanding, and winnable to provide impactful research that drives economic development, improves societal well-being, and shapes the future through the practical application of their innovations.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_message]Recognising the importance of harnessing the potential impact of Open Science, MOSTI and ASM are paving the way towards realising Malaysia Open Science Platform<\/a> (MOSP) as a strategic transformative initiative to strengthen STI Collaborative Ecosystem for Malaysia. This initiative aims to make Malaysia\u2019s research data as a valuable national asset by developing a trusted platform that enables accessibility and sharing of research data aligned to national priorities and international best practices.[\/vc_message][vc_message]The Malaysia Science Endowment<\/a> (MSE) is a perpetual fund designed to finance Research, Development, Innovation, and Commercialisation (R&D&I&C) activities, reducing reliance on government funding. It is part of the National Policy on Science, Technology, and Innovation (NSTIP) 2021-2030 and the Twelfth Malaysia Plan. MSE operates under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) as the implementing agency.
