On 29 July 2024, ASM was honoured to receive a courtesy visit from <\/span>Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party<\/span><\/a> (LDP) led by <\/span>Mr Tokai Kisaburo<\/span><\/a>, Chairperson of Policy Research. The delegation was welcomed by ASM President <\/span>Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc<\/span><\/a> and ASM CEO Puan Hazami Habib.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, ASM and LDP shared insights into the education systems of Malaysia and Japan, advancements in science and technology for sustainable development, and upcoming research collaborations between the <\/span>Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE)<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Networked Exchange, United Strength for Stronger Partnership between Japan and ASEAN (NEXUS)<\/span><\/a> through the <\/span>Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST)<\/span><\/a>. Both organisations explored collaboration in pursuing green technologies and establishing a green hub between Malaysia and Japan.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Tokai also acknowledged the 67-year friendship between Malaysia and Japan and emphasised the positive impact of the <\/span>Look East Policy<\/span><\/a> on education and cooperation between the two countries. He also announced the opening of the <\/span>University of Tsukuba<\/span><\/a>‘s first <\/span>international branch<\/span><\/a> in Malaysia, offering Japanese degrees and project-based learning, including data science, to nurture talented youth who will bridge the two countries together.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
