In preparation for the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), Kementerian Ekonomi – Laman Rasmi<\/span><\/a><\/span> organised a Kick-Off Conference RMK13. The programme involved participants from local and international experts, the public sector, statutory bodies including government-linked companies (GLCs), state economic development corporations (PKEN), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society organisations (CSOs), industry, and academia.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Academy of Sciences Malaysia, represented by the CEO, Puan Hazami Habib, was honoured to be the moderator in one of the sessions on Education Reform. In the introductory remarks, she highlighted that the education system must adapt accordingly to prepare individuals for jobs and technologies that have not yet emerged and address problems that have not yet surfaced, especially in the post-normal era. She was joined together by Vice-Chancellor of IMU University, Academician Professor Emerita Datuk Dr Asma Ismail FASc, Provost and CEO of Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia Prof Mushtak Al-Atabi and Lead Economist and Human Development Programme Leader, World Bank Brunei, Malaysia, and the Philippines, Dr Tara Beteille. The session was also attended by the Economy Minister, YB Rafizi Ramli.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

RMK13 is a five-year roadmap for the government to implement between 2026 and 2030. It is expected to be tabled in mid-next year. The last Malaysia Plan, RMK12, launched in 2021, ends in 2025.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
