Previous studies have shown that students&#8217; attitudes can affect how well they learn algebra.<\/p>\n<p>This study looks at how secondary school students in Malaysia feel about algebra and how well they do at it. Researchers gave an algebra test, asked students about their attitudes through a questionnaire, and conducted interviews to learn more about their problem-solving methods. The study involved 93 students in the Dual Language Programme (DLP) in Malaysia, with three students interviewed for deeper insights.<\/p>\n<p>The findings showed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There was no big difference in algebra performance between younger (Form Three) and older (Form Four) students.<\/li>\n<li>Students with more negative attitudes tended to do worse in algebra.<\/li>\n<li>Students generally struggled with understanding algebra problems and applying problem-solving strategies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These results suggest that helping students develop positive attitudes toward algebra could improve their learning.
