Mesyuarat Menteri-Menteri dan Ahli-Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri yang bertanggungjawab mengenai Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi<\/em> (MEXCO-STI) was conducted on 28 April 2025 at Bilik Gerakan Negeri, SUK Perak @ Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan, Ipoh.<\/p>\n

The meeting discussed two papers for consideration (kertas pertimbangan<\/em>) and four information papers (kertas makluman<\/em>) related to projects, programmes, and potential collaborations that could be implemented between MOSTI, its agencies, and state governments to strengthen the national STIE agenda.<\/p>\n

ASM CEO, Puan Hazami Habib, presented the Wireless Bridging System (WBS) initiative, an alternative technology capable of expanding high-speed internet access particularly by leveraging existing facilities, to underserved and unserved communities at affordable costs and with rapid implementation.<\/p>\n

A pilot WBS project was successfully implemented in Kampung Kuala Pajam, Selangor, and the initiative was extended to Kampung Simbuan Tulid, Keningau, Sabah in 2024. The system in the village benefits 158 students, 15 teachers, and 480 residents.<\/p>\n

ASM also expressed its commitment to working with interested state governments to facilitate knowledge transfer, share experiences, and advance WBS-related technologies. The significant potential of this technology provides opportunities for state governments to consider its adoption in accelerating the achievement of 100% broadband coverage, as outlined in the JENDELA initiative.<\/p>\n
