The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) is a statutory body which came into force on 1 February 1995 and was established under the Academy of Sciences Act 1994.

As the nation’s Thought Leader on matters related to science, engineering, technology and innovation, ASM provides strategic advisory reports to the government. ASM also carries out programmes that contribute towards the development of human capital in the science, engineering and technology. As such ASM collaborate and partner with national and international organisations and networks in achieving these goals.

ASM invites Malaysians to apply for the following IMMEDIATE vacancy:

 

OPERATING OFFICER (COO)
GRED C54 – Full time, Contract of Service
  The Chief Operating Officer is responsible to oversee the daily operations of the organization and ensure efficient delivery of quality services. 

Other responsibilities are: 

  1. Carrying out the functions of the organization and decisions of ASM Council in accordance to the ASM Act, Regulations and Procedures as well as adopted government circulars.
  2. Overseeing the overall operations which include strategic planning, finance, human resources, administration, legal, information technology and corporate communications.
  3. Overseeing the planning and implementation of programmes and activities.
  4. Ensuring effective communication of ASM’s input and findings to relevant stakeholders and policy makers in order to positioning ASM as a national Thought Leader.
  5. Report directly to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). 

Requirements:

Minimum degree in either science or finance or administration field.
Minimum of 15 years of work experience in management and supervisory role.
Experience in serving a science or engineering or technology based organization or a think tank body is an added advantage.
In depth understanding of organizational operations of both government and corporate sectors.
Excellent communication skills in English and Malay language, which include writing, presentation and public speaking ability.

The candidate must be result driven, has good interpersonal and people management skills as well as upholds qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the organizational mission.

HUMAN RESOURCE EXECUTIVE
 Full time, Contract of Service
 

Key responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Human Resources unit and its activities.

Your key task on a normal day includes:

  • Strategize and oversee talent management which includes talent acquisition, training, budgeting, performance appraisal, career growth plan and employee benefits etc.  
  • Develop and implement effective HR policies, procedures and regulations and carry out monitoring on compliance.
  • Oversee and manage employer-employee relationships and handle HR related investigations.
  • Oversee and maintain HR records.  

Qualities:

Candidate must possess dynamic leadership qualities, strategic thinking and ability to demonstrate resourcefulness in guiding and leading team towards achieving the organization goals. The candidate must be result driven, has good interpersonal and people management skills as well as upholds qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the organizational mission.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Minimum a Degree in Human Resources Management.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the Human Resources field is required. Candidate with experience working in human resource department of Government entity or statutory body is encouraged to apply.
  • Tactful and has ability to deal with difficult situation and difficult people.
  • Excellent working skill with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills both in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
