ASM provides a platform to widen research perspectives and experience, to exchange ideas, to be recognised in the international arena, to gain information and knowledge of techniques that will stimulate and advance national and international partnerships.
Inter-Academy Panel (IAP)
IAP is a global network of the world's science academies, launched in 1993. Its primary goal is to help member academies work together to advice citizens and public officials on the scientific aspects of critical global issues. ASM is a member of the IAP Executive Committee and was involved in the formulation of the IAP Strategic Plan III, which focuses mainly on global science advice, science communications, science education and involvement of young scientists.
Interacademy Medical Panel (IAMP)
IAMP is a network of 70 medical academies and medical sections of academies of science and engineering in the world committed to improving health worldwide. The goals of the IAMP include strengthening the capacity of academies to provide evidence based advice to government on health and science policy. As a member of IAMP, ASM plays an important role in facilitating the preparation of international statements on important health and health related matters of global significance.
The European Organization For Nuclear Research (CERN)
Malaysia is connected with CERN, one of the world’s largest and most respected centre for scientific research which opens up avenue for Malaysia to develop outstanding scientists and increase output of high impact research and publications. ASM is the primary facilitator to forge the partnership between Malaysian institutions with CERN. ASM and CERN signed an Expression of Interest (EOI) on 23 June 2011 at Geneva to facilitate research collaboration and human capital development in the area of experimental particle physics, detector physics, data analysis and information technology.
International Institute For Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA)
ASM is a national member organisation of IIASA that concentrates its research in three main areas namely Energy and Climate; Food and Water; and Poverty and Equity. As a member of its governing council, ASM provide inputs in defining IIASA’s organizational strategy and oversight of IIASA’s development including its research plan. ASM has direct access to the expertise, networks, databases and models developed by IIASA and actively promote the IIASA platform to the Malaysian scientific community.
