April 15, 2021In line with the new norm, the National Science Challenge (NSC) made a come back under a virtual competition format in 2020. Held from 25 August until 9 November 2020, VNSC was recognised as one of the Signature Programme of Minggu Sains Negara, an initiative by MOSTI. This year’s VNSC theme was “Towards a Pandemic Resillient Community Through Science”.
In total, 1,027 teams took part in the Preliminary Round before the top three teams from each state qualified for the second round: video competition. Among 47 participating teams at the Second Round, six teams were chosen by the Judges to compete in the Grand Final on 9 November 2020.
After a neck-to-neck battle in the Grand Final, SMJK Jit Sin, Pulau Pinang emerged as the Champion of the 2020 VNSC and brought home the Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy, ASM-VNSC Educational Award worth RM 6,000, a laptop and a certificate of achievement for each student. YB Khairy Jamaluddin graced the virtual event with a powerful message through his speech and announced the winners.
