April 16, 2021For the second year, the FAScinate continues to fascinate Malaysian public on the latest advances in science and technology and be inspired by renowned Malaysian scientists’ journey. The programme was well-received with high views and engagements via Facebook and Zoom Live and was listed as one of the Minggu Sains Negara Kuala Lumpur’s programmes.
The 2020 FAScinate featured seven Fellows across different disciplines who shared their expertise virtually, in 2 sessions:

Based on material science, synthesis of the photovoltaic materials is a fast-growing research area.
4. STEM and Competencies for 21st Century by Professor Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei FASc
As Malaysia strives to be a developed nation, STEM literacy and competency are essential for Malaysia’s sustainable socio-economic development.

5. Reimagining Ageing: Debunking Myths and Stereotypes by Professor Dato’ Dr Tengku Aizan Tengku Abdul Hamid FASc
Malaysia is projected to have a larger elder population by 2050. The myths and stereotypes of ageing is still a worrying concern in our society. Hence the talk has debunked all of these stereotypes.
6. Amazing Mushrooms: Nature’s Gift by Professor Dr Vikineswary Sabaratnam FASc
Mushrooms are one of the natural wonders, consumed by human since thousand years ago. It is beneficial to human in terms of wellness and bioremediation.
7. What a waste!!! By Professor Dr Nik Meriam Nik Sulaiman FASc
The management of waste in our everyday lives has greater philosophical meaning as the saying goes- time and tide wait for no men.
