Dr Khairul has made outstanding contributions to infectious disease diagnosis and the development of innovative education methods in Malaysia. He will be greatly missed.

In recognition of his services in his field of expertise, he was awarded the HDC Halal Scientist in 2010 and he was the recipient of the Penang State Special Award in conjunction with the Maulud Rasul celebration in 2011.

Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Makhdzir Mardan FASc inspired the development model for beekeeping in Malaysia. He will always be remembered by all.

Tan Sri Dato’ Ir (Dr) Wan Abdul Rahman Hj Wan Yaacob FASc passed away on 2 July 2022. His contribution as a leader of the Malaysian civil engineering industry and as an ASM Fellow will always be remembered.

Dr Khalid’s numerous achievements have had a deep and lasting impact on Malaysia and Malaysian society with nearly 300 published articles on diabetes and endocrinology. With his continuing research efforts, Dr Khalid has significantly improved the understanding of endocrinology.

He made an outstanding contribution to research in microbiology and biotechnology in Malaysia and will always be remembered as one of ASM’s Foundation Fellows.
