MOSTI Minister Meets Malaysian Students from CERN Summer Programme

Organised by CSIRO in partnership with Australia for ASEAN Futures (Aus4ASEAN Futures), a workshop titled ‘ASEAN STI Actions to Address the Challenges & Opportunities of the Coming Decade’ took place on 11-12 September 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The workshop aims to set the direction for the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science, Technology and Innovation (APASTI) 2026-2035 by garnering input from workshop participants. Fifty participants from 10 ASEAN member states attended the workshop from the public and private sectors.
Professor Dr Mahendhiran Sanggaran Nair FASc presented the ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Ecosystem Foresight 2035 report, which set the scene for the two-day workshop. Participants were segregated into groups based on the ten global forces of change presented in the report. Among the key takeaways of the workshop are the need to emphasise inclusivity for APASTI 2026-2035 and the vision for ASEAN to become a vision-led economy that leverages ASEAN’s rich cultural heritage.
