On 6 September 2024, ASM welcomed the delegation from the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), led by President Professor Li Xiaohong. As national think tanks, both institutions are dedicated to advancing science and technology. The visit also celebrated 50 years of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, reflecting the strong bond between the two nations.
Key discussions centred on collaborations in renewable energy, AI, healthcare, and traditional medicine. CAE and ASM explored joint research, academic forums, and opportunities for data sharing, with an emphasis on precision medicine and genomics in Malaysia. The CAE delegation also committed to collaborating under the Belt and Road Initiative.
To build on these discussions, ASM proposed workshops and joint research initiatives, with both academies agreeing to work together on areas of mutual interest.
