ASM CEO Highlights Science Diplomacy at Cyberjaya Summit
January 15, 2026ASM organised the inaugural Young Scientist Network–ASM (YSN-ASM) Induction Ceremony on 7 January 2026 to formally welcome new Members and Affiliates into the network.
YSN-ASM is a part of ASM’s ongoing commitment to nurture young talent and strengthen Malaysia’s future science leadership.
The induction brought together 22 new Members and 60 new Affiliates, expanding YSN-ASM to a nationwide community of 171 Members and 131 Affiliates.
This growth reflects the increasing role of early- and mid-career scientists in contributing to Malaysia’s science, technology, innovation and economy (STIE) ecosystem.
In his address, ASM President Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc emphasised that YSN-ASM members are equal partners in driving meaningful national change.
He highlighted the fragmented nature of Malaysia’s STIE landscape and underscored the urgent need for stronger alignment and collaboration.
Using the concept of “resonance,” he encouraged young scientists to exercise human agency, remain future-oriented, align their work with national priorities and communicate science effectively to society so that knowledge translates into real-world impact.
ASM Chief Executive Officer Puan Hazami Habib further elaborated on ASM’s role as the nation’s advisory body on STIE, anchored by its extensive Expert Network.
She encouraged new YSN-ASM members to engage beyond the network, foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and actively contribute to ASM’s key studies, mission-oriented initiatives and national programmes.
The ceremony concluded with a certificate presentation, followed by a networking session and booth exhibitions that facilitated knowledge exchange, collaboration and the formation of new partnerships.
ASM warmly welcomes all new YSN-ASM Members and Affiliates and looks forward to their contributions to a growing community dedicated to shaping Malaysia’s scientific future.
