Aside from providing an introduction to the Academy, Datuk Dr Asma also informed the TRSM recipients of their vital role in the Academy as experts in their respective areas, providing relevant and timely views and feedback on STI issues of national and international importance.
Datuk Asma’s presentation included an overview of several projects and initiatives in which the Academy has given valuable input, such as the National Policy of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) 2021-2030, Technology Commercialisation Accelerator (TCA) and the recently launched 10-10 MySTIE Framework. She hopes that the TRSM recipients will play a large part in contributing their knowledge and expertise in these projects/initiatives as well as in many more to come.
Besides encouraging the TRSM recipients to be active contributors to the national STI agenda via the Academy, Datuk Dr Asma also invited them to become the voice of reason and facts by actively speaking up on STI issues in the media. The TRSM recipients have considerable influence and weight in their respective research areas to become reputable and reliable sources of scientific information, with which Datuk Asma hopes to cut through the extraneous white noise that often comes in times of crisis or dialogue.
