October 14, 2024On 11 September 2024, The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, met two outstanding Malaysian students, Nurul Nabiilah Sulaiman and Shim Zi Jun who recently participated in the CERN Summer Students Programme (CSSP) 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland. They were among 150 young scientists from around the world who actively participated in the daily operations of research teams conducting experiments at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The programme took place from 1 July to 25 August 2024. ASM CEO Puan Hazami Habib also attended the session.
During the meeting, Nurul Nabiilah and Zi Jun shared their experiences in the programme, particularly the impact it had on their career development as young scientists. Nurul Nabiilah shared her experiences conducting her research in CERN, ‘Machine Learning Driven Development of Heavy Flavor Identification in Lead-Lead Collision’. Meanwhile, Zi Jun shared his project on ‘Upgrading CMS Inspection Robot’. Both of them acknowledge that CSSP 2024 has exposed them to making a great networking opportunity.
Minister of MOSTI, YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, has expressed that Malaysia will continue to explore opportunities to increase the participation of students in such international programmes, which will improve the country’s scientific capabilities and promote international cooperation.
