Public Lecture: A Lifetime’s Perspective on Infectious Disease
the MSAF Public Lecture titled A Lifetime’s Perspective on Infectious Disease was held on 2 February 2023 via Facebook Live.
The lecture was moderated by Professor Dr Abhi Veerakumarasivam, Sunway University Provost as well as cancer geneticist and regional leader in science communication, policy, and leadership.
The illuminated speaker of the lecture is the esteemed Sir Alimuddin Zumla, 202 Mahathir Science Award Laureate, thought leader in infectious diseases and global public health.

On the same day, a joint intellectual discourse that featured the 2020 MSA Laureate later in the evening.
Sir Alimuddin was joined by Prof Dato’ Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman, Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases, Universiti Malaya. This discourse was moderated by Dr Siti Khayriyyah Mohd Hanafiah, honorary fellow at Burnet Institute, Melbourne, Australia.
