National Dialogue on Planetary Health (NPHAP): Interconnectivity of Humans, Planet and Prosperity
August 30, 2024On 29 July 2024, ASM was honoured to receive a courtesy visit from Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) led by Mr Tokai Kisaburo, Chairperson of Policy Research. The delegation was welcomed by ASM President Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc and ASM CEO Puan Hazami Habib.
During the visit, ASM and LDP shared insights into the education systems of Malaysia and Japan, advancements in science and technology for sustainable development, and upcoming research collaborations between the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE) and Networked Exchange, United Strength for Stronger Partnership between Japan and ASEAN (NEXUS) through the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). Both organisations explored collaboration in pursuing green technologies and establishing a green hub between Malaysia and Japan.
Mr Tokai also acknowledged the 67-year friendship between Malaysia and Japan and emphasised the positive impact of the Look East Policy on education and cooperation between the two countries. He also announced the opening of the University of Tsukuba‘s first international branch in Malaysia, offering Japanese degrees and project-based learning, including data science, to nurture talented youth who will bridge the two countries together.
