Call for Applications: Malaysia-China Science & Technology People-to-People Exchange Programme
August 29, 2025Heartiest congratulations to the 2024 & 2025 ASM Senior Fellows and New Fellows who were honoured at the ASM Fellowship Conferment Ceremony.
The Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, officiated this meaningful event to recognise the excellence and outstanding contributions of individuals in their respective fields.
This conferment represents the nation’s highest scientific recognition, granted under the Academy of Sciences Malaysia Act 1994.
In his keynote address, which also touched on the celebration of ASM’s 30th anniversary, Dato’ Sri Fadillah, who previously served as the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation from 2008 to 2013, acknowledged the efforts of this Think Tank.
He highlighted its role not only in conducting studies and proposing policies related to science, technology, innovation and the economy (STIE), but also in driving strategic initiatives, pilot projects and on-the-ground demonstrations that lead to real-world impact.
Among ASM’s latest efforts is the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE), an alternative fund established to support STI activities in Malaysia.
Most recently, an RM90 million MSE matching fund in the semiconductor field was launched, aimed at positioning the nation as a global hub for advanced packaging technology, in line with the vision of the National Semiconductor Strategy.
At the same event, Dato’ Sri Fadillah also officiated the Senior Fellow Conferment for 2024 & 2025, awarded to Academician Professor Emerita Datuk Dr Asma Ismail FASc (2024), Academician Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Ibrahim FASc and Academician Dr Koh Chong Lek FASc (2025).
Earlier in the programme, the ASM President, Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc, conferred the ASM Fellowship upon 63 new Fellows for 2024 (31 individuals) and 2025 (32 individuals).
ASM now comprises 531 Fellows, including 30 Senior Fellows and 501 Ordinary Fellows.
ASM is confident that this recognition will further inspire each individual’s commitment and contributions to drive meaningful change and create a positive impact on the nation and society.
