On 19 September 2023, ASM President, Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc, was invited as the distinguished expert panel during the inaugural UM LEAD Purposeful & Principled Leadership (PPL) Programme organised by Universiti Malaya.
He delivered a talk titled “Purposeful & Principled Leadership in Post-normal Times”. He highlighted the importance of embedding human values in leadership, in which we are now at a period of uncertainty and complexity where traditional norms and methods no longer apply, demanding new approaches and paradigms.
He summarises that leaders should prioritise knowledge in post-normal leadership, establish clear organisational processes, prioritise human-centricity and ecosystem sustainability, embrace servant leadership starting with self-awareness, and encourage dynamic, proactive, agile teamwork without favouritism or fear.
