August 10, 2023ASM Senior Fellow Academician Emeritus Professor Dr Yong Hoi Sen FASc has published a book on biodiversity at the Universiti Malaya campus.
The book, titled “The Natural World: Universiti Malaya”, includes almost 1,700 species of plants and more than 90 species of birds, not to mention the macaques, squirrels, and monitor lizards and the wide array of insects found on UM’s campus grounds.
The book introduces and showcases UM’s richness of biodiversity within the 373-hectare area. UM has commissioned this book from one of the world’s renowned natural biologists and intends it to be a great book for general reading and keepsake.
Captivating photos of the components of UM’s ecosystem were accumulated from years of dedicated interest, hoping to delight those new to UM and those enchanted by their visit to the historical university grounds.
The book is currently RM98 at the time of this article’s publishing. Interested buyers may contact UMPress via email at umpress@um.edu.my or visit their Facebook or Instagram.
