The Academy of Sciences Malaysia’s Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP) has organised a forum titled “Citizen Science: Now Everyone Can Contribute” on 18 May 2022.
The forum was held in Bahasa Malaysia and featured Dr Zeeda Fatimah Mohamad as the moderator. Dr Zeeda is the Director of the Universiti Malaya Sustainability and Development Centre (UMSDC). The panel consisted of Mr Affan Nasaruddin (co-founder of UM Water Warriors Living Lab & Sekitar Kita), Mr Masbudi Malek (co-founder of Inspirasi Kawa), as well as Mr Hafez Murtza (founder of Apadilangit).
Citizen science has changed research dynamics by allowing the public’s involvement in scientific research. Simultaneously, this helps to dispel the connotation that science is solely for scientists. The forum educates viewers on the current landscape of citizen science in Malaysia and how we can all become citizen scientists.
