Courtesy Visit by the Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada

On 13 January 2025, ASM was honoured to welcome Counsellor (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada, Mr Eric Pelletier and delegation for a discussion to explore opportunities within Malaysia’s blue economy and identify potential avenues for collaboration.

ASM CEO Puan Hazami Habib delivered a presentation on ASM’s role and functions, highlighting the Malaysia Science Endowment and its alignment with shared objectives for sustainable progress. Contributions to the discussion were also made by ASM Fellows, Professor Dato’ Ir Dr A. Bakar Jaafar FASc, Emeritus Professor Dr Phang Siew Moi FASc and Professor Dr Mahendhiran Sanggaran Nair FASc.

The discussion emphasised strategies to unlock the potential of Malaysia’s blue economy by focusing on ecosystem conservation, sustainable aquaculture, balanced economic opportunities, and the transformative potential of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) for green hydrogen production.
