October 16, 2023In an effort to prioritise the mental health of the ASM staff members, the Human Resource Management Unit (UPSM-ASM) organised a session centred around the topic Mental Sihat: Emotional Awareness and Love Yourself.
Held on 8 September 2023, the session aims to impart knowledge on various aspects of mental health care and underscore their significance among ASM staff members.
To facilitate this insightful discourse, the UPSM-ASM has invited Ms Siti Hajar Binti Ahamad Mashat, a Counselling Psychology Officer at the Family Medicine Specialist Unit of Klinik Kesihatan Tanglin. Pn Siti Hajar is an expert in the field and is well-equipped to address the nuances of mental health.
The objectives of the proposed lecture are twofold:
- To provide insights into the different facets of mental health care and emphasising their importance.
- To strengthen awareness regarding the prevention and early detection of mental illnesses.
Mental health is an integral component of overall well-being, and in a professional setting like ASM, acknowledging its significance becomes paramount. The lecture empowered staff members with knowledge and strategies for maintaining positive mental health, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more resilient workforce.
Ms Siti Hajar’s expertise as a psychology officer specialising in family medicine aligns perfectly with the objectives of the lecture. Her insights into emotional awareness and self-love will provide ASM staff with valuable tools to navigate the challenges of daily life while prioritising mental health.
The lecture covered a spectrum of topics, including understanding emotional well-being, recognizing signs of mental health challenges, and practical approaches to self-love and self-care.
The session offered a unique opportunity to enhance ASM staff members’ understanding of mental health. As ASM continues to invest in the well-being of its personnel, such initiatives contribute to creating a workplace culture that values and prioritises mental health, ultimately fostering a more productive and resilient workforce.
