December 8, 2023The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum was organised on 27 November 2023 as the second instalment of the 10-10 MySTIE Technology Series. In his opening remark, ASM President, Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc emphasised the importance of aligning technological advancements, particularly in AI, with the principles of human-centric design thinking. He underscored that while AI can process vast amounts of data, it requires human wisdom to harness its capabilities effectively.
The AI Forum, moderated by Associate Professor Dr Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef, chairperson of the YSN-ASM, featured esteemed panellists from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), WorldRemit, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). During the forum, topics addressed included the current AI landscape, the implementation of human-in-the-loop systems, and the future of AI.
Following the forum, the Innovation Kopitiam session was held to engage stakeholders, knowledge-sharing and potential collaboration among the attendees. The session was led by Dr Afnizanfaizal Abdullah, General Manager of Technology Commercialisation of MRANTI. The sharing session focused on the need for increased collaboration between academia and industry, support for fundamental sciences, encouragement of AI utilisation across sectors, and the promotion of creative thinking to identify multiple use cases for AI systems.
