The Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) held their annual colloquium on a virtual platform from 10 to 12 December 2021.
The YSN-ASM Colloquium brings together YSN-ASM members and affiliates to celebrate every individual’s professional and personal accomplishments, as well as YSN-ASM’s collective impact. It is also during this programme where YSN-ASM’s programmes and activities will be strategised.
YSN-ASM Chairperson Associate Professor Dr Chai Lay Ching started the three-day programme with an introduction to the new members. Then, the chairs or co-chairs of each of the eight Working Groups presented a brief introduction on the roles and objectives. This is to ensure that new members have a good grasp of each Working Group to help them decide which group to become a member.
One of the main agendas of the YSN-ASM Colloquium is to elect new Executive Committee (EXCO) members and Working Group Chairs. Therefore, a brief video was prepared by each candidate containing their manifestos to convince the other members on why they are eligible for a particular position.
Day two of the YSN-ASM Colloquium started with an announcement of the new EXCO members and Working Group Chairs and Co-chairs.
The CEO of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Mdm Hazami Habib attended the YSN-ASM Colloquium to introduce ASM’s identity, vision, and mission. This was followed by a Breakout Session of the Working Groups. All members are encouraged to go to the Working Group in which they want to contribute.
The second day of the Colloquium concluded with a presentation of the Working Group Strategic Plans.
