January 16, 2022UCSI University, UCSI Poll Research Centre and Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) have entered in a tripartite agreement to advance research collaboration, via a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on 9 December 2021.
The MoU was signed by Professor Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir (UCSI Group CEO and UCSI University Vice Chancellor), Pn Hazami Habib (CEO of ASM), and Associate Professor Dr Pek Chuen Kee (CEO UCSI Poll Research Centre).
The signing ceremony was also witnessed by the ASM President, Professor Emerita Datuk Dr Asma Ismail FASc and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research & Postgraduate Studies, Senior Professor Dr Phang Siew Moi FASc.
UCSI Poll Research Centre is an independent part of UCSI University focusing on areas of problem-solving research, developing new research capabilities in the field of public opinion and survey, and modelling analysis. The centre also provides training, consulting, public hearing, and monitoring and evaluation services. Moreover, the centre possesses expertise in survey research, strategy, and policy development.
Professor Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir said the synergy between the three parties will set the scene for greater research initiatives to identify new insights and breakthroughs.
“This MoU establishes a working framework between our esteemed organisations, and I hope that it will be a precursor to many joint initiatives that will bring us mutual benefit,” she said in her speech.
Professor Emerita Datuk Dr Asma Ismail FASc said, “The Academy endeavours to be a voice of influence and change maker in our STIE landscape. One of the keys is adopting a cross-cutting, multi-disciplinary approach beyond conventional disciplines and forging meaningful collaborations.”
“Collaboration and knowledge sharing is no longer a choice but, an inevitable feature of progress in the 21st century. On that note, the collaboration between the Academy and UCSI is a step in the right direction. Let us synergise our efforts for nation-building,” she added.
