October 18, 2019Brilliant Malaysian students were the recipients of several awards given during the 3rd One Belt One Road (OBOR) Teenager & Maker Camp 2019.
Muhd Hazim Aiman bin Mohd Nazri from MRSM Transkrian took home the Best Maker Award. Meanwhile, the award for Best Presentation was given to his schoolmate Muhd Irfan Haikal bin Mohd Firdaus.
Joining them in receiving these accolades was their schoolmate Muhd Aliff Muazzam bin Mohd Kauli, who took home the Beat Teamwork Award.
Since 2017, the China Association for Science and Technology and Ministry of Science and Technology of China have jointly launched the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop.
This programme was held in support of the Belt and Road Initiative, China’s proposal to build a Silk Road Economic Belt and a 21st century Maritime Silk Road in cooperation with related countries.
This annual event aimed to strengthen cross-cultural exchange, promote international understanding and inspire innovation in young generation. This year, the programme carried the theme “Openness for Fusion & Innovation for Development”.
The camp gave students the opportunity to cooperate with the best of their age at an international level, to share ideas and study cutting-edge knowledge in science labs of top schools in China through hands-on experience and teamwork under the guidance of experienced teachers.
Aside from programmes for students, science education forum and teacher workshop were held for teachers to enable sharing of educational practices and learning skills in STEM education.
Participants of the OBOR Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop have also experience Chinese culture and visit various sites of cultural significance through diversified cultural and scientific programmes.
