February 20, 2020The Malaysian Collaborative Network Platform for Disruptive Innovation or i-CONNECT for short, is an initiative to create and nurture a conducive innovation ecosystem in Malaysia towards increasing disruptive innovation. i-CONNECT also enables Malaysia to leverage on new economic opportunities for Malaysian industries to enter emerging markets.
i-CONNECT serves to bridge the innovation chasm between researchers and industries, offering advantages such as a shared vision, lowering risks and barriers, developing talent pool and intensifying knowledge, among others.
An integral part of i-CONNECT is a Neutral Entity (NE) that links industry players, researchers, government and civil society towards pursuing a shared vision.
Therefore, in an effort to court potential NEs, ASM has organised a conceptual briefing session on 15 January 2020. This session was organised to brief potential NEs on i-CONNECT and to ensure they understand its concepts before they submit their proposals to become an NE.
Those who attended the conceptual briefing session are as follows:
- Halal Development Corporation (HDC)
- International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF)
- Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MTDC)
- NanoMalaysia Berhad
- Sirim Tech Venture Sdn Bhd
The Chairman of the i-Connect Steering Committee, Academician Tengku Datuk Dr Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc has led the briefing together with the Co-Chairman Ir Ts Choo Kok Beng FASc. Attendees were given until 15 February to submit their proposal to become an NE of i-CONNECT.
