The 23rd APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) Meeting was held from 28 to 29 February 2024 at the Lima Convention Center, Peru. The theme of APEC PPSTI is “Empowering Innovation and Digitalization for Inclusive, Sustainable, and Resilient Economic Growth”.
APEC PPSTI priorities include addressing challenges and barriers for those with untapped economic potential to participate in the science, technology, innovation, and digital ecosystems, as appropriate, to advance enabling environments for a sustainable and inclusive technological future; and exploring emerging technologies and more broadly STI for the role that they play in supporting sustainable resilience and recovery solutions.
Through MOSTI and ASM, Malaysia presented a Landscape Study and Benchmarking Workshop for the APEC Open Science Alliance, which received tremendous support from the APEC economies. Additionally, Malaysia was the chair for the Building Science Capacity Subgroup, looking into the status updates of projects while discussing policy recommendations and potential topics for future Concept Notes.
APEC’s Policy Partnership for Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) envisions that the APEC region would achieve innovative economic growth by 2025. For more information, read the PPSTI Strategic Plan 2016–2025.
The PPSTI’s mission is to “support the development of science and technology cooperation as well as effective science, technology, and innovation policy recommendations in APEC through collaboration between government, academia, private sector and other APEC fora.”
