March 14, 2024ASM successfully organised the first Precision Biodiversity (PBD) Alliance Meeting on 14 February 2024. Attended by representatives from various ministry bodies, government and state agencies, academia, and industry, the PBD Alliance is an effort to establish an alliance that drives the development of Precision Biodiversity and facilitates the adoption of technologies in Malaysia.
The opening address from ASM CEO Puan Hazami Habib underscored the significance of the PBD within the framework of ASM’s Planetary Health initiative. It continued with the Chairperson of PBD Alliance, Dr Helen Nair FASc, delivering an overview of PBD to the attendees, highlighting the achievements and impact of the PBD pilot project in Pasoh Forest Reserve, Negeri Sembilan.
Professor Ir Ts Dr Ahmad ‘Athif Mohd Faudzi led a presentation on the progress update of the Digitalisation and IoT Programme for Biodiversity. Attendees were then divided into groups to receive briefings on the project scopes of PBD.
Through the Alliance Meeting, it is hoped that PBD alliance members can broaden their collaboration to realise the objective of real-time biodiversity monitoring by 2040.
