The Haze Problem: A Blame Game or an Endgame?
December 2, 2019Top Recognition for Outstanding Malaysians
December 13, 2019Following the recognition of Malaysia’s top scientific minds, Deputy Minister of MESTECC YB Puan Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis also launched the ASM ArtScience™ Initiative during the 2019 Conferment Ceremony and Announcement of 2019 Top Research Scientists Malaysia.
The ArtScience™ Initiative aims to nurture creativity at the convergence of the arts and the sciences. It promotes appreciation of the arts towards acculturation of science among Malaysians, via two subprogrammes: the ArtScience™ Prize and the ArtScience™ Engagement Programme.
The ArtScience™ Prize is the first-ever to be established in Malaysia to celebrate the nascent community of artist-scientists that shows promising growth and development. The projects envisioned under the ArtScience™ Initiative aspire to strengthen the research endeavour at the interface of art and science.
Meanwhile, the ArtScience™ Coffee Chat and the ArtScience™ Dialogue are two activities under the Engagement subprogramme that features professionals, artists and scientists to enculturate the convergence of art and science. It achieves this by facilitating communication between participants and prominent figures from the art and science communities.
A Task Force member of the Initiative is invited as a guest speaker at the ArtScience™ Coffee Chat. The guest speaker engages with the audience in an interactive session to delve deeper into the concept of convergence in art and science.
The ArtScience™ Dialogue series features worldly panellists with a keen eye on the philosophy of ArtScience™ discussing specific topics, as well as aiding artist-scientists in overcoming hurdles in materialising their concepts and projects.
