Top Recognition for Outstanding Malaysians

Nine Top Research Scientists, 27 new Fellows and one Senior Fellow were the highlights of the 2019 Conferment of Fellowship of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and the Announcement of the 2019 Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM).

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) YB Puan Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis was in attendance to present the honours and to launch the ArtScience™ Initiative.

Twenty-seven Malaysian scientists were conferred the title of ASM Fellow, rewarding their stellar scientific performance in their respective fields. The lifetime recognition allows them to carry the title “FASc” after their name.

The Ceremony also witnessed the appointment of Academician Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff FASc as a Senior Fellow, in recognition of his contribution to the field of cardiology through practice, teaching and research as well as championing research integrity in Malaysia.

In addition, nine scientists were also given the Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) recognition at the Ceremony. ASM honours the contribution of Malaysian research scientists to the nation’s economic growth via generation and dissemination of knowledge, wealth and productive pursuit of scientific excellence for the benefit of humanity.
