A ceremony was held to celebrate the sending off for 2018 NSC winners on 6 December 2018 at the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC).
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Secretary-general (Planning &Commercialisation) of MESTECC, Datuk Kua Abun representing the Deputy Minister.
The National Science Challenge Champions will be going to Stockholm, Sweden from 6 to 10 December 2018 while the First Runners Up will be going to Silicon Valley in the United States from 10 to 14 December 2018.
As a symbolic gesture of this sending-off ceremony, Datuk Kua Abun presented the Jalur Gemilang to both of the delegates to Stockholm and Silicon Valley with the hopes that this will infuse national spirit among the delegates during the study visit.
Also present during the ceremony were Mr Sukiman Mohamed, General Manager of Public & Government Affairs, ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia, Mr Kamaruzaman Jaffar, Director of Secondary Education Division, Majlis Amanah Rakyat. As well as Ms Fiona from the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The NSC winners have gone through a very challenging and exciting experience towards winning the competition. Their hard work, teamwork and dedication have evidently been handsomely rewarded. The study visits to Stockholm and Silicon Valley will surely leave sweet memories and provide invaluable experience to the winners.
