February 15, 2024On 22 January 2024, ASM, in collaboration with the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST), successfully organised the ASM-KAST Bilateral Symposium.
At the symposium’s opening, ASM President Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc emphasised ASM’s unwavering dedication to strengthening collaboration with KAST. His speech highlights the commitment to deepening the bonds of scientific and technological cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
The symposium featured introductions to academies and overviews of ISTIC-UNESCO and the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA). The symposium was organised into three sessions covering food and life sciences, medical sciences, and engineering.
This event underscores the fruitful exchange of scientific expertise between Malaysia and Korea, paving the way for future collaborations and discussions. ASM extends its gratitude to KAST and participants for their contributions to the symposium’s success.
ASM and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) signed a supplementary Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the event.
This collaborative effort reinforces our commitment to exchanging information, knowledge, and expertise in science, technology, innovation, and economy (STIE) between the two countries.
The MoU was formalised between the ASM President, Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc and the KAST President, Professor Ook Joon Yoo, witnessed by scientific fraternities from both academies.
Notably, this agreement extends and strengthens the partnership initiated by the original MoU signed on 11 February 1999. The ongoing collaboration remains dedicated to promoting scientific and technological cooperation through diverse means, marking a significant milestone in both academy’s shared pursuit of advancement and innovation.
