ASM President Advocates Mission-Oriented STI Initiatives

On 9 April 2025, Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen FASc paid a courtesy visit to the MOSTI Secretary General YBhg Datuk Seri Hj Hasnol Zam Zam Hj Ahmad. Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman was accompanied by ASM CEO Pn Hazami Habib and ASM Chief Strategy Officer, Pn Nitia Samuel.

The President, also the STI Advisor to the Prime Minister and the Nation, explained the empowerment of the National Science Council (NSC) and stressed the importance of implementing mission-oriented initiatives that harness STI as enablers. These initiatives also involve the quadruple helix, coordinating cross-disciplinary solutions to address the nation’s great challenges.

In the NSC Meeting held in November 2024, a proposal to improve the governance structure of NSC via the formation of a National Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Jawatankuasa Koordinasi dan Pemantauan Sains Negara, or JKPSN) was put forward to empower NSC.

The Secretary General of MOSTI supports implementing crucial mission-oriented initiatives to address the nation’s critical issues and improve the rakyat’s well-being.
