Every organisation is built on the dedication, passion and commitment of individuals who devote their time and expertise towards a greater purpose. At ASM, one such individual is Puan Hazami Habib FASc, whose remarkable three-decade journey has left an enduring legacy on the organisation and the nation’s science, technology, innovation and economy (STIE) landscape.
On 12 June 2026, ASM held a special appreciation ceremony to honour Puan Hazami in conjunction with her mandatory retirement as Chief Executive Officer. Having joined ASM in 1996, her journey with the organisation has spanned nearly 30 years, marked by growth, change, and many important milestones.
Throughout her distinguished career, Puan Hazami played a key role in strengthening the organisation’s work in strategic studies, policy development, foresight, international collaboration and talent development. Her leadership also helped ASM strengthen its role in supporting evidence-based policymaking and bringing science and technology closer to national priorities.
Under her stewardship, ASM continued to expand its influence and relevance, supporting evidence-based policymaking and promoting the role of STIE in addressing national challenges and opportunities.
The appreciation ceremony brought together the ASM President, Council Members, staff members and Puan Hazami’s family to celebrate her achievements and contributions. A special tribute video was also presented, capturing treasured memories, milestones and reflections from colleagues and stakeholders who have worked alongside her throughout the years. The video served as a heartfelt reminder of the positive impact she has made on the organisation and the many lives she has touched during her tenure.
More than a leader, Puan Hazami has been a mentor, advocate and source of inspiration. Her unwavering dedication, strategic vision and commitment to excellence have helped shape ASM’s identity as a respected institution that continues to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
As Puan Hazami embarks on a new chapter, ASM extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation for her invaluable service and steadfast leadership. Her contributions will remain an integral part of ASM’s history. At the same time, her legacy will continue to inspire future generations to uphold the values of excellence, integrity and service.
