
On January 11th 2021, at the initiative of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia Malaysia Open Science Platform and the Malaysia Association of Research Managers (MyRMA), a webinar was held with researchers, librarians and research managers to discuss about Malaysia Open Science Platform pilot initiative and the global landscape of Open Science.
The Webinar was moderated by the Chairperson of Malaysia Open Science Alliance Working Group on Capacity Building & Awareness, Professor Dr Abrizah Abdullah, a Professor from the University of Malaya, with esteemed panellists: Professor Dr Noorsaadah Abd Rahman FASc, Chair of Malaysia Open Science Alliance also a Deputy Vice Chancellor Research & Innovation University of Malaya, Professor Emerita Datuk Seri Dr Mazlan Othman FASc, the Director of the International Science Council Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ISC ROAP) also a member of Malaysia Open Science Alliance, and Professor Datuk Dr Rohana Yusof FASc, the Chairperson of Malaysia Open Science Alliance Working Group on Guidelines.
During the event, discussions were centred on introducing the concept of Open Science, Malaysia Open Science Platform pilot initiative, intergovernmental efforts towards promoting Open Science globally and efforts towards developing policies and guidelines on Open Science in Malaysia. For information: Malaysia Open Science Platform is a 2-year pilot project funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI, then MESTECC), managed by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia through Malaysia Open Science Alliance. The pilot project was launched in November 2019.
