ASM Southern Chapter Roadshow 2024

The 2024 ASM Southern Chapter Roadshow was successfully held with strategic partner Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 12 June 2024.

The one-day event started with the 10-10 MySTIE Technologies Series and Innovation Kopitiam, focusing on the theme: “Enhancing National Digital Security: The Role of Cybersecurity and Blockchain Technologies.” The discussions centred on the growing digital security threats in our increasingly complex digital landscape. The Cyber Security Bill was highlighted, representing the Government’s strong commitment to protecting our digital ecosystems’ integrity, confidentiality, and availability. It was also stressed that while developing national cybersecurity capabilities is a crucial first step, continuous education and public awareness are essential for effective cybersecurity.

In the afternoon, the event shifted to the 40^th IdeaXchange, titled “Creating the Ecosystems to Position Malaysia as the Business and Services Hub for the Region.” Discussions highlighted the need for Malaysia to proactively develop policies and strategies that leverage advanced technologies, such as AI and big data analytics, to enhance supply chain efficiency. These policies and strategies would enable greater reliance on local supplies rather than global ones. Additionally, the importance of close collaboration between academia and industry was emphasised to ensure the production of job-ready graduates equipped to meet the demands of the evolving job market.

Throughout the roadshow, ASM showcased various initiatives and programs such as the Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP), the 10-10 MySTIE Framework, Planetary Health, the Tropical Science Foundation, e-estidotmy, Membership, Science Communication, and career opportunities.
