Introduction 

The Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) was established on December 12, 2012, under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. Our mission is to foster a collaborative environment where young scientists can contribute to the nation’s scientific and technological advancement. We are dedicated to nurturing talent, promoting interdisciplinary research, and addressing key national issues through science and innovation. 

Criteria 

1. Eligibility Criteria 

1. 1. A Malaysian citizen. 
   2. Holds a PhD or other doctoral-level degree in the sciences, including the social sciences, and at least five (5) years of research experience.
   3. Scientific excellence, ascertained by proven track record. 
   4. Age limit 45 years old and below (maximum 42 years old at the time of application). 
   5. Must be supported by a current YSN-ASM Honorary Member / Member. 
2. Selection Criteria
   1. Priority is given to YSN-ASM Affiliates.
   2. Demonstration of ability to contribute to YSN-ASM.

Term of Appointment 

The appointment of YSN-ASM Member shall be from the date of appointment and will expire at the age of 45 years.  

For existing active members, this provision also applies, whereby membership will automatically expire upon attaining the age of 45.

Membership Exit and Termination Guideline: 

YSN-ASM Membership may end through the following, all of which shall be tabled to the council for decision or notation through the YSN-ASM Selection Committee, chaired by the ASM Vice-President:

1. Resignation: A member may resign by submitting one month’s written notice, subject to Council’s approval. 
2. Automatic cessation: Membership will cease in the event of death, unsound mind, conviction for fraud or dishonesty, or bankruptcy. Such cases shall be tabled to the Council for notation and formal removal from the register.
3. Termination by Council: YSN-ASM Membership may be terminated for non-compliance or conduct detrimental to ASM. The member shall be notified and given an opportunity to provide a written explanation before the Council reaches a final decision.
