Professor Dr Azman Hassan is an outstanding scientist in polymer chemistry and technology. His work majorly focuses on the utilisation of graphene in the automotive industry. He is the principal investigator for more than 20 research grants, including an international grant from Qatar University and contract research from NanoMalaysia in collaboration with Proton, on the utilisation of graphene in automotive industries.  He has published more than 250 papers, has two patents granted and one utility Innovation. He also has edited two books and written 30 book chapters. One of his papers published in Materials and Design received the Most Highly Cited Paper award for 2019 in UTM. His H-index is 37 (SCOPUS), with a citation of 5,637. Professor Dr Azman conducts professional courses on polymer technology for the industries. He has contributed significantly to capacity building by mentoring and training young lecturers and researchers in research and publications. He is an Editorial Board member of Fibers and Polymer, Journal of Plastics and Elastomers (both are WoS indexed journals), and Editor-in-Chief of PERINTIS eJournal. He has held several leadership roles in UTM. He was the Head of Polymer Engineering Department (2002-2008), Deputy Director (Research Publications) for Research Management Centre (2008-2011), Director of Research Publications Centre(2012-2014) and Deputy Dean for Research and Innovations at Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (2015-2017). He is currently a member of UTM Senate, elected since 2011. Professor Dr Azman has been elected as Vice-President of PERINTIS (Persatuan Sainstis Muslim Malaysia) and Vice-President of Malaysia Polymer Society. He was also appointed as Malaysia Quality Assurance Head of Accreditation Panel at University College TATI and UiTM Perlis. He serves as an external examiner for Polymer Engineering Programme in UniMAP. He is a grant evaluation panel member for various grants under MoHE and MOSTI. He was the Head of the Monitoring Panel for the Hubert Curien Partnership France-Malaysia Hibiscus.
