Professor Dr Teh Geok Bee is an expert in nanomagnetic oxides, specialising in the structural elucidation of nanomaterials and their applications. She has contributed significantly towards the development of the material science field, especially in nanomaterials, through her active involvement in advisory work at the national and international level. Her H-index is 10 (google scholar), with a citation of 413. She has contributed her expertise in the development of standards pertaining to nanomaterials. She served as a National Advisory Committee member of ISO/TC 229, WG3, Health, Safety and the Environmental relevant to Nanotechnologies, since 2008. She was appointed as Technical Assessor to accredit chemical laboratories under the MS ISO/IEC 170 25 by the Department of Standard Malaysia since 2011. She also serves the Malaysian National Standards Committee (MyNSC) as a member since 2012. Apart from this, she actively involves in various national level committees as an expert panel, which includes accessing research fund applications from ministries. At the international level, she has been serving as a Member of Division VII: Chemistry and Human Health Division of International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) since 2014. She was appointed as an Associate Member of the Standing Committee on Chemistry Education (CCE), International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) for the term 2020-2021. She is one of three chemists from Malaysia who is elected as Titular Member (2018-21), representing the Institut Kimia Malaysia. Professor Dr Teh Geok Bee actively contributes to professional bodies in taking on leadership roles, such as organising national and international conferences. She contributed as a workshop trainer at IKM Professional Centre for 13 years, having trained more than 2000 chemists and technicians since 2008. Prior to her appointment as President of Southern University College, she served TAR University College (2009-2019) as Associate Professor and Head of Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research. She served UTAR (2004-2009) as an Associate Professor and TAR College (2000-2003) as a Senior Lecturer.
